Mr. Seward Kenneth Mercer, 77, died Thursday night (August 2, 2018) at his residence.

A native of Waycross, Seward was formerly employed by William Brothers in Tifton, Rogers Bridge Construction in Brunswick and Kelly Manufacturing in Brunswick. He was attending The Refinery in Waycross.

Seward is preceded in death by his parents, Dempsey Leroy Mercer, Sr. and Revis Lee Mercer; his wife, Betty Lou Pate Mercer; three sons, Seward Bebe Mercer, (infant twins) Terry and Jerry Mercer; and three sisters, Betty Ann Mercer Bass, Carolyn Mercer and Bobbie L. Mercer.

Survivors include one son, Michael Anthony Mercer of Waycross; 8 grandchildren, John Mercer, Anthony Mercer, Heather Mercer, Michael Mercer, Layla Shae Mercer, Brooklyn Kennedy Mercer, Ryder Michael Mercer and Destiny Thomas Mercer; five great grandchildren, Deacon Greene, Damien Greene, Chase Porter, Chance Porter and Eli Mercer; two siblings, Dempsey Leroy “D.L.” Mercer, Jr. and Polly Mercer Edge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorialization is by cremation.
