Mr. Philip Michael Funk, 84, passed away suddenly Friday morning (November 23, 2018) at Memorial Satilla Health.

He was a native of Clarence, NY, but he has resided in Waycross the last 15 years. Mr. Funk retired from the State of New York Department of Transportation as an engineer, and he was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waycross. Mr. Funk served in Germany in the United States Army, and he loved his favorite football team, Buffalo Bills, most sports and Nascar racing. He enjoyed traveling, talking and spending time with his family telling jokes, interesting facts and stories. His family will remember him as an extremely loving, giving, funny and reliable man who will be dearly missed by all.

Mr. Funk is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Funk and Martha Benzula Funk.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Carol Thompson Funk; six children, Michelle Blish, Colleen Sterling, Christopher Funk, Arron Thompson, Rachael Stamp and Isabella Motta; 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild; three siblings, Joseph Funk, Ray Funk and Lou Tee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Memorialization is by cremation.
