Mrs. Lucille Parr, 78, died Tuesday night (October 27, 2009) at Satilla Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was a native of Atkinson County but had lived most of her life in Ware County. She was the daughter of the late Lyhugh Taft and Bitha Floyd Taft. She was also preceded in death by her husband Leonard Parr and a sister, Lorine Lott.
She attended Church of God services and is described by her children as "a great mother and a wonderful Nana".
Survivors include three daughters, Lawanda DeWeese (husband Jerry) of Waycross, Dale Dixon (husband the late Alton) of Waycross, and Pam Lee (husband John) of Waycross; two sons, Richard Parr (wife Sandy) of Blackshear and Kayle Parr of Jacksonville, FL; ten grandchildren, Wendy L. Drury (husband Dwight) of Blackshear, Grant DeWeese, Margo Dixon, Carey Dixon (wife Tonya), Neal Dixon (wife Felicia), Shannon Lee, and Erik Lee all of Waycross, Barrett Parr of Fitzgerald, Stacy McNutt (husband Ricky) of Leesburg, GA, and Greg Burroughs (wife Mehee) United States Air Force stationed in Germany; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Lois McDuffie of Old Town, FL and Myrtice Griner of Forrest Park, GA ; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 Pm Friday (October 30, 2009) at Waycross Holiness Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM this evening at Music Funeral Home.
