Obituary

Elizabeth Belle "BeBee" Shuman, 83, died Wednesday morning (July 9, 2014) at her residence near Hoboken following a brief illness.

She was born in Valdosta, lived her early years in Waycross, but had made her home in Brantley County since the age of 16. She was the daughter of the late Perry Lee Joiner and Cora Alder Brinkley Joiner. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Alvin Shuman, 2 Son-In-Laws, Jim Pap and Lee Krom siblings, Helen Griffin (husband Dempsey), Marjorie S. Thomas, Red Joiner (wife Lucille), and Perry Joiner (wife Virginia), and a brother-in-law, John Dixon.

She was a long-time member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Hoboken where she was one of the original 12 charter members. Mrs. Shuman and her husband also helped organize and were charter members at Oak Hill Baptist Church in the Schlatterville Community of Brantley County.

She was praised by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and also a great cook.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Alvin Shuman of Hoboken, a son Alvin Stanley Shuman (wife Mary Ann) of Hoboken, 3 daughters, Elizabeth Nanette Krom of Waycross, Barbara S. Lee (husband Ernest) of Hoboken, and N. Sarolyn Douglas of Chinle, AZ; 9 grandchildren, Steve G. Shuman (Karen) , Mark Daniel Shuman (Jennifer), and Penelope "Penny" Courson (Shane) all of Hoboken, Crystal D. Pap of Waycross, Clay Patrick Lee (Kristie) of Hickox, Courtney Elizabeth Chapman (Sean) of Hoboken, Corey L. Smith (Tommy) of Tallahassee, FL, Casey Elizabeth Douglas of Belle, MO, and Cody Michael Douglas of Hoboken; 20 great grandchildren, Caitlyn Shuman, Chance Shuman, Macy Shuman, Maddie Shuman, Cameron Moore, Lindsey Courson, Luke Courson, Austin Pap, Corrine Nabb, Colleen Nabb, Jared Pap, Dillan Lee, Lauren Lee, Colby Chapman, Camry Chapman, Kyle Chapman, Kade Chapman, Cadance Smith, Sydnee Corns, Bella Rain Roybal; a brother, Arthur Joiner (wife Grace) of Hoboken; a sister-in-law, Nevada Dixon of Jacksonville, FL, brother-in-laws, Ferrell Thomas and Donald Shuman of Hoboken; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and her pet dachshund, Jake.

The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday evening (July 11, 2014) in the Gymnasium of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Hoboken.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be sent to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31501.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
