Obituary

Eddie James Scott, Sr, 67, died Tuesday (January 16, 2007) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
He was a native of Nahunta but grew up in Waycross. During his military career he lived throughout the United States. He resided in California for forty years before moving back to Waycross four years ago.
He was the son of the late Amos James Scott and was preceded in death by a daughter, Cassandra Ann Scott. He was a graduate of the Laverne University of Oxnard, CA. He was a retired Senior Chief Petty Officer United States Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Navy Sea System Command Logistician of the Year Award and was a Senior Enlisted Advisor for Point Mugu, CA. He served a total of thirty-two years as a Navy Veteran and a Technical Writer for the United States Government He was a member of the Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Waycross.
The survivors include his wife of fifty years, Olynthia “Micki” Baldwin Scott of Waycross; four sons, Gerald Franklin Scott of Sun Valley, CA, Eddie James Scott, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, Amos James Scott, II and Gregory Scott, Sr., both of Oxnard, CA; a grandson who he raised as a son, Gregory Scott, Jr. of Waycross; four grandchildren, Sybil Ian Chester of Oxnard, CA, Andrea Scott of Camarillo, CA, Timothy Scott of Ridge Crest, CA and Melia Scott of Oxnard, CA; three great grandchildren, Jasmine Scott, Olivia Chester and Tragen Scott; his mother, Ann Scott of Waycross; a brother, Andrew Scott of Tallahassee, FL.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (January 20, 2007) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. The Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
Family members, devoted friends and The Class of 1958 are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday to serve as honorary pallbearers and flower attendants.
