Mrs. Bessie Mae Holmes Williams, 78, died Sunday afternoon (October 10, 2004) at her daughter's residence after a brief illness.
She is a native of Fairfax, but she has lived most of her life in Waycross. She was a homemaker and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She is the daughter of the late William Holmes and Louella Harry Holmes. She is the wife of the late Allen Franklin "Duke" Williams. She is also preceded in death by her son, Billy Allen Williams.
She is survived by eight children, Robert Duke Williams of Quaker Hill, CT, Patricia Laverne Taylor of Waycross, Linda Denise Burse (husband Bertram) of Waycross, Bradford Eugene Williams of Virginia, Juanita Elaine Jackson (husband Kevin) of Waycross, Kim Wandell Steedley (husband Jonathan) of Manor, and Richard Fondell Mitchell of Atlanta; 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; a sister, Leola Cooper of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday (October 16, 2004) at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Elder Jerry Bozeman officiating. Burial will follow in Hazzard Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at Music Funeral Home and at the home of her daughter, Linda Burse, 1417 Pine Street.
