Annie Laura Myrick Williams, 91, died early Saturday morning (July 7, 2007) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was the youngest daughter of the Harper C. Myrick and Alice Claudia Myrick of Statesboro, Georgia where she attended the public schools and graduated from William James High School and an active member of the First Baptist Church; participating in church school, BYPU and other Christian services.
She was a long time resident of Waycross for more than sixty years and lived and worked in New York City. Returning to Waycross she went back to her Christian roots, St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church; singing in the Senior Choir and a member of the Mission Circles.
She was preceded in death by a daughter; Billie Delores Williams, a husband; Foster Williams, two brothers; Harper Eric Myrick and Harvey Van Myrick, Sr., two step-sisters; Rosa Myrick Jamison and Leola Myrick Ross.
She was a faithful and dedicated member and attended church regularly until she became immobile, but her love for Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church was always known by her pastor, friends, church members and community, because she lived the life of a Christian. She was loved by all that knew her. She was called “La La”.
She was retired from Gold Kist after many years of service. She will be sadly missed.
She leaves to mourn a brother, Arthur W. “A.W.” Myrick (wife Maude) of Waycross; four nieces, Alice Myrick McRae of Brunswick, Lynn Cabassa (husband Michael) of Jessup, MD, Karen Myrick, Kathy Myrick Jones (husband Reginald); four nephews, Harvey Van Myrick, Jr. (wife Brenda), Kim Myrick (wife Gabrielle), Mark Myrick (wife Diana) all of Columbia, MD, Jimmy Myrick (wife Maggie) of Brunswick and a host of great nieces, nephews and loving friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Thursday (July 12, 2007) at Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church 1110 Pittman Street. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The body will be place in the church two hours prior to service. Rev. Johnny Arnold will be officiating.
Music Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
