Obituary

Ann Milton Miller (age 70) died peacefully at home with her children after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Mother's Day, May 9, 2010.

A native of Waycross, Ann graduated from Hoboken High School (class of 1957) and married William Devane Hurst (Bill) on March 7, 1959. Ann and Bill relocated to Jacksonville, FL, to raise their family and had shared 36 years of life together when Bill died in 1995. In 2001, Ann retired from Answer Phone of Jacksonville, Inc., after 41 years of dedicated service. She married Kenneth W. Miller and returned to Waycross in 2002. Ann and Ken found much joy in their life together prior to Ken's death on December 8, 2009.

Ann enjoyed gardening, painting, writing poetry, and traveling. She was a member of Friendship Community Church in Jacksonville and New Hope Advent Christian Church in Waycross.

Ann was predeceased by her father William "Bud" Milton, her brother Edwin Rowland, her granddaughter Geneva Ann Williams, and her nephew Perry Gassett.

She is survived by her mother Charlotte Milton; her son William W. Hurst (Debbie); her daughter DeeDee McLaughlin (Bill); her beloved brother William "Pete" Milton (Winnell); her sisters: Mae Moody, Von Dakin, and Edna Mercer (Ralph); grandchildren Bryan (Dana), Michael, Jonathan, and Adam Hurst; Billy, Noah, and Virginia McLaughlin; Sarah McLaughlin Mitchell; her great-grandchildren Kaydence and Isaac Hurst; her dearest friend Sue Hull; her former son-in-law Jack Williams; and many nieces, nephews,
and dear friends. She shared a special bond with her niece, Cyd Minchew, and was especially appreciative of Cyd's love and concern during her final weeks.

Her beautiful smile and warm heart will be remembered by all whose lives she touched. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday May 13, 11:00 AM, at New Hope Advent Christian Church, Miles Still Rd., Waycross Ga.

In lieu of flowers, Ann's wish was that memorial gifts be made to Hospice Satilla, 317 Plant Avenue, Waycross, GA, 31501. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Debbie Davis and Kay Thigpen of Hospice Satilla for the loving care that they provided.
